Recent statistics revealed by London-based company Urbanist Architecture indicate a sharp rise in property buyers looking to leave the city in favour of a countryside address.
The architectural planning business discovered in a recent study that since 2019’s first quarter, recorded figures showed a massive 65 percent rise in enquiries from people requesting information on rural properties.
The COVID-19 crisis of 2020 has resulted in many of the UK’s populace restricted to remaining within their houses and apartments for a substantial portion of the year. The research suggests that lockdown is making many who reside in towns, cities and other built up areas reconsider the advantages of a more natural setting, with fresh air, open spaces, and green fields.
Up until now, Urbanist Architecture had concentrated its efforts on city-based locations to meet demand, as people working in the UK capital were seeking a quick commute from the outer suburbs into central London.
Managing Director for the firm, Ufuk Bahar, explained:
“Prior to COVID-19, around two-thirds of our projects were focused in highly desirable London boroughs such as Westminster, Islington, Camden and Greenwich, with work ranging from extensions to new build homes and flat conversions.”
While the architectural firm’s team were experienced in providing green belt and countryside projects, it never anticipated the exceptionally high demand seen this year. As those working across the housing sector work to address this demand, now is a great time for those wanting to move to the country to take the plunge.
